A Wedding at Schloss Vasoldsberg – Light, Calm and a Strong Team

Some venues you have to work for. And some do the work for you.

Schloss Vasoldsberg belongs to the second kind – for a reason that hardly shows in pictures but changes everything on the wedding day: everything is close together. Getting ready, ceremony, park, celebration. No car journeys between parts of the day, no lost forty minutes, no rushing.

For you that means: more day. For me it means: more real moments instead of logistics.

I’ll show you what that looks like in practice at the wedding of Gianina & Lukas, where I was responsible for the film.

The light: the real reason

What struck me first about this venue wasn’t the architecture. It was the light in the interiors.

The rooms for getting ready are bright and high, with large windows and lots of white. That sounds like a detail – but it’s the difference between pictures that look soft and calm and pictures where you can see how cramped the room is. I don’t have to set up any artificial light there. I just have to look at where the window is.

Outside, the mood changes completely: lots of green, dense foliage, meadow. Two very different visual worlds in one place, without you ever having to get into a car.

This picture from the getting ready wasn’t taken by me, but by Pia – more on that in a moment.

Photography and film in the same room

At Gianina & Lukas’s wedding I was responsible for the film. Two others took the photos:

  • Pia Nograsek of pixellicious as lead photographer

  • Christina Supanz as second photographer

And because it’s the question couples ask me most often: yes, it works – but not automatically. It works when the people working there see each other.

Specifically, that means:

  • We go through the schedule once together, not three times separately

  • Who stands where during the ceremony is clarified beforehand – not negotiated in the aisle

  • Nobody walks into anyone else’s shot, because you constantly keep an eye on where the others are

  • And if someone sees a moment earlier, they make room instead of competing

You don’t notice the result in the pictures. You notice it in yourselves: on that day you never feel surrounded by a team.

What the venue doesn’t do for you

However good a place is – it doesn’t make the wedding on its own.

A beautiful backdrop won’t save a timeline that’s too tightly packed. And a castle doesn’t create pictures that show real emotions. That still happens in between: in the half hour when nobody wants anything from you.

So if you’re getting married at Schloss Vasoldsberg, I’d advise you exactly what I advise everywhere: plan in some idle time. Twenty minutes in which nothing has to happen. Those are almost always the pictures you’ll most love looking at later.

Credits

A wedding is rarely the work of one person. These people contributed to this one:

  • Couple: Gianina & Lukas – thank you for letting me be part of it

  • Photography: Pia Nograsek – pixellicious.at

  • Second photographer: Christina Supanz – christinasupanz.at

  • Film: Daniel Winter

Both did a phenomenal job that day – and I’m not saying that out of politeness, but because you can see it in the pictures.
